The Riyadh Homecoming festival provided visitors with the chance to go back to ancient times and their traditional tools, by letting them make ropes with a historical spinning machine, which is characterized by its great ability to twist small threads and transform them into strong ropes that are reliable in pulling heavy vehicles and fixing sails of ships. The spinning machine used by visitors at the festival is characterized by its flexibility and ability to twist all kinds of threads and turn them into products of great market value in times when people relied on ropes to draw water from wells, moor ships in ports, tie chariots to horses, and other uses. The traditional spinning machine has attracted the attention of visitors because of its association with ancient ways of living and how some products of strength and rigidity were made before the stage of technology and modern factories. The Riyadh Homecoming festival is the first of its kind in the Kingdom. Its activities, held in the Hittin district, north of Riyadh, coincide with the return to schools. The festival also hosts international shows, such as Disney on Ice, and the theatrical show University of Rioters, which is being shown for the first time, as well as many entertainment and educational events, in addition to a range of shows suitable for families and children. The festival, which continues until 5 September, welcomes visitors from 6:00 pm to 12:00 midnight on weekdays, and from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am on weekends.
