News, Press Releases
As per its regulatory role of the entertainment sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in line with its dedication to establish a safe and secure entertainment environment in the Kingdom, the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) implemented several field inspections rounds in collaboration with relevant entities to inspect entertainment events and live shows in restaurants and cafes. Through 750 field visits, it recorded 819 violations, 116 of which were related to precautionary measures. GEA’s inspection teams also recorded violations of failing to issue necessary permits, including 102 for live shows in restaurants and cafes, and 96 for entertainment events. Those breaches were addressed in liaison with relevant authorities, and necessary measures were taken. GEA urged all entertainment facilities to observe protocols and preventative guidelines against COVID-19, and emphasized checking the health status of visitors via “Tawakkalna” App, enforcing face masks, measuring visitors’ temperature, disinfecting hands, and denying venue access to any visitors exhibiting coronavirus symptoms. It also reiterated the importance of obtaining the appropriate permits for organizing entertainment events via the Entertainment Portal on GEA’s website: https://www.gea.gov.sa/en/licensing-and-investors GEA had cooperated with relevant authorities over the past few days to halt several activities that violate preventative measures and permit requirements. It continues to work with several government authorities to ensure no infringements are made by any entertainment events or activities falling under its jurisdiction.
