World-renowned star Sir Anthony Hopkins hosted an extraordinary musical evening today (Friday) at Bakr Al-Shaddi Theater in Boulevard City as part of Riyadh Season’s events. The concert, which lasted two hours, captivated a large audience.
The evening, titled “Life is A Dream,” began with a red-carpet event attended by an impressive array of art and music stars from around the world.
At the start of the concert, Anthony Hopkins shared: “The theme of this concert is that life is a long farewell to the bitter. During this time, and after all the efforts made, whether in Wales or California, we believe that music can be a path to inner peace.”
He added: “This evening, being here with you, is truly a dream come true. I’ve always wondered throughout my life how a boy from South Wales, the son of a baker, could make it here. My life is mysterious and profound to me. It’s impossible to fully understand it or attribute any of the blessings I’ve experienced to myself. That’s why I believe life is a dream, and that dream is music, inspired by my deeply rooted childhood in South Wales.”
In conclusion, Hopkins expressed his overwhelming joy about the Riyadh concert, saying:
“I never aspired to be a composer because I didn’t know how to do it. But through this musical evening in Saudi Arabia, I feel a sense of fulfillment that is indescribable.”
HE Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), expressed his gratitude to the great composer Anthony Hopkins and the orchestra led by renowned conductor Matthew Freeman of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He stated:
“We shall meet again soon in London, God willing.”
The concert featured a selection of Hopkins’ remarkable compositions, blending classical melodies with original works, including notable pieces such as “Fanfare and March,” “Circus,” and “Bracken Road.”
The performance continued seamlessly with Hopkins delivering pieces like “Margam,” “Fantasia,” and “Goodbye My Love,” which closed the evening amidst resounding applause from the audience.
The event was further elevated by its exceptional visual production, adding an elegant artistic touch that underscored Riyadh Season’s global reputation as a premier destination for hosting world-class stars.
