Boxing fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the big fight that will take place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as part of the ‘Riyadh Season’ at ‘Kingdom Arena’ next Saturday, June 1, 2024, the Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol, the WBA super light heavyweight titleholder since 2017, and Libyan boxer Malik Zinad, are both striving to maintain their undefeated records across 22 matches.
The World Boxing Association (WBA), whose titles are held by boxer Bivol, is one of the four major organizations recognized in professional boxing. Some of its notable titleholders include the legendary Muhammad Ali and one of the world’s boxing stars, Mike Tyson, in the heavyweight division. The light heavyweight division, set by the WBA at a maximum weight of 79.4 kilograms, was established in 1963, with the first titleholder being American boxer Willie Pastrano.
Today will be dedicated to general exercises, while Thursday will be reserved for the press conference. On Friday, the boxers will undergo the official weigh-in before participating in the big fight on Saturday.
