The musical “Rihlat Al Sit” (The Lady’s Journey) returns to World Theater at Boulevard Riyadh City, and renews the meeting of lovers of classical music with the memory of the late star singer Umm Kulthum, by reviewing her career and prominent works entrenched in Arab memory.
As part of the activities of Riyadh Season 2022, “Rihlat Al Sit” will be launched in two periods, the first from 23 to 30 November, and the second on 4 and 5 December. It will be shown twice daily for about 2 hours.
The musical presents the journey of Umm Kulthum in the form of train stations, highlighting her true beginnings when Abu Al-Ela heard her singing his melodies on a train while she was returning to her village and became her main supporter. Other stations follow to show, in an interesting way, the biography of “Al Sit” by highlighting the most prominent stations in her life.
The first station in the life of Umm Kulthum begins in her village, El Senbellawein, in which Abu Al-Ela discovered her talent and advised her to move to Cairo. From El Senbellawein, to Bab Al-Hadid Station, which is one of the most important events in the life of Umm Kulthum, as she became the top female singer in Egypt.
The play moves to the third station, the “Jerusalem Station”, which documents Umm Kulthum’s artistic trips to Palestine. The fourth station is “Head of Artists Syndicate Station”, where she led the musicians in her country. Next, Umm Kulthum traveled to Europe and became an international star at the “Olema France Station”, where she performed a number of concerts in various countries.
In the last station, “Egypt Station”, the play presents the moments of farewell, during the illness of Umm Kulthum and then her departure.
