The Ministry of Culture and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) signed an agreement today (Wednesday) to transfer the authority for issuing licenses and permits for the theater and performing arts sector from GEA to the Theater and Performing Arts Commission. This agreement comes as part of a previously signed memorandum of understanding between the two entities.
The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in the development of the cultural and entertainment sectors, support the implementation of cultural authorities’ strategies, and facilitate joint coordination in licensing and content approval processes.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of HE Deputy Minister of Culture Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez and GEA’s CEO, Eng. Faisal Bafarat.
The transfer of theater licensing authority to the Theater and Performing Arts Commission represents a step toward unifying procedures and streamlining the investor journey. This shift is expected to raise awareness of updated regulatory procedures and enhance efficiency.
The agreement covers all types of performing arts, including theater, circus performances, stand-up comedy, street performances, movement-based shows, opera, and more.
This collaboration reflects the commitment of both entities to improving the quality of life and implementing the highest standards in cultural and entertainment activities. It aims to support the cultural and entertainment sectors while contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives.
