Italian Jannik Sinner and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz have both secured their spots in the semi-finals of “The 6 Kings Slam” tennis tournament, one of the premier events of this year’s Riyadh Season. The tournament, held at “The Venue” over three days, features high-level competitions with some of the biggest names in the sport.
In the first match, Sinner, currently ranked world No. 1, dominated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev. Sinner took the first set with a commanding 6-0 win and sealed the second set 6-3, delivering a complete performance. Medvedev, visibly frustrated, struggled to maintain his composure as Sinner advanced through the match.
In the second match, young Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive form, defeating Holger Rune in two exciting sets. Alcaraz won the first set 6-4 and maintained control in the second, finishing 6-2, earning him a place in the semi-finals.
Jannik Sinner expressed his delight with the achievement, saying: “It was a great moment for me. I’ve worked hard throughout my young career to reach this level. Winning the Davis Cup and my first Grand Slam in Australia gave me a lot of confidence to play great tennis all year. I enjoy every moment on the court and always strive to improve.” He also praised the audience for their support during his match against Medvedev.
Carlos Alcaraz reflected on the significance of playing against Nadal, saying: “It’s unfortunate that a player of Nadal’s caliber announced his retirement; he was one of the reasons I pursued tennis professionally. I feel both proud and sad to face him again, and I’ll try to enjoy this unique moment. We spoke at the hotel about life beyond tennis, and it was a special moment for me.”
Tomorrow, Novak Djokovic will take on Jannik Sinner in a highly anticipated clash between the experienced Serbian star and the ambitious young Italian. At the same time, fans are in for an exciting Spanish showdown between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, a highlight of the tournament as Nadal nears his retirement.
