Souk Al-Zal, one of the 15 entertainment zones of Riyadh Season 2022, launched its activities today, Sunday, December 11. The zone combines the past and the present, as it is one of the oldest markets in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, it represents a heritage window where visitors breathe the fragrant past, with its various folk and traditional events, restaurants and cafes.
Souk Al-Zal reflects the originality of the Arabian Peninsula through the hospitality of Saudi coffee, which has become a cultural heritage of the Kingdom’s history. It hosts many cafes and various activities, including wandering in the corridors of the market and watching light shows on ancient buildings and walls, in addition to entertaining visitors with weekly traditional performances.
The inauguration of the zone’s activities coincides with the start of winter, as the market is full of fur and leather clothes, cloaks and embroidered headscarves. The market was and still is the favorite place for winter shopping to buy the finest types of fur and winter cloaks, and various types of incense. It is also the best place to display old goods and all kinds of antiques.
Souk Al-Zal is located near the historic Masmak Palace, which makes visiting the zone an enjoyable experience, as it includes shops for handicrafts and traditional products. Visitors enjoy watching national drawings on the old doors, and the zone allows them to wear traditional clothes and take memorial photos that reflect the identity of the event.
Riyadh Season 2022 includes 15 entertainment zones, including the largest artificial lake in the world, and offers visitors the experience of cable car rides, cloud-embracing lounges, sporting events, concerts, and local and international exhibitions.
