On Friday evening, the “Nights from the Beautiful Past” concerts concluded with performances by Khalid Abdulrahman, Fahad Al Kubaisi, Ayed, Dahoum Al-Talasi, and Abdulaziz Al Tayyar, in the presence of a large audience of Arab music enthusiasts at Mohammed Abdu Arena in the Boulevard Riyadh City.
The event, which is part of the activities of Riyadh Calendar, witnessed a phone call from His Excellency Advisor Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, who welcomed the audience and said: “Today and yesterday, we celebrated our beloved artists, who are part of our culture. Saudi artists who enriched the artistic scene but did not have the chance to be with us during the leap we are experiencing now in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.” He added: “I have emphasized to the General Entertainment Authority, Rotana, Benchmark, and Sela, that Saudi artists should be given their full share of recognition in all performances and celebrations,” stressing at the same time that ‘Saudi artists will receive their full rights in this generous era.”
Singer Abdulaziz Al Tayyar started Friday’s concert with two songs from the works of his late father, Hamad Al Tayyar, amidst wonderful applause from the audience. The screens of the stage showcased a visual presentation of the prominent moments of Al Tayyar’s service to folk music.
The concert, which was a tribute to a number of art icons, was distinguished by Fahad Al Kubaisi’s performance of songs by Fahad Bin Saeed, who gained widespread popularity in the past decades. Ayed performed many songs by the late Isa Al-Ahsa’i, while Dahoum Al-Talasi sang some works by Hamad Al Tayyar.
The concert concluded with the participation of the popular star Khalid Abdulrahman amidst great applause and a distinguished audience. The singer performed famous songs by the late Bashir Shannan, whose works were famous in Riyadh in the past.
