The sixth episode of the qualifiers for the international Holy Quran and call to prayer competition in Otr Elkalam (Scent of Speech) TV show witnessed delivering the call to prayer in the same way that it is delivered in the Quba Mosque, the first mosque to be founded on piety. The episode also contained exceptional rivalries between the six contestants in the recitation of the Holy Quran branch and the call to prayer branch.
Viewers from all over the world listened in today’s episode to the Saudi muezzin of Quba Mosque, Anas Sahloul, who added a flavor of Madinah’s Ramadan to the show. The Turkish muezzin, Mohsen Kara, came with exceptional experience in delivering the call to prayer in many countries around the world, including Germany and Iran. The Syrian muezzin, Mohammed Jamal Shawka, had a distinguished voice but did not manage to qualify for the next stage because his competitors received the largest number of votes.
As for the Holy Quran recitation branch, the Moroccan contestant Ahmed Al-Khalidi, imam of Andalus Mosque in the Moroccan capital, impressed the members of the jury with his Warsh recitation and qualified for the quarter-final stage with 8 votes from the jury team, which consists of 12 judges during the first stage of the final qualifications for the competition.
In the same episode, the Libyan contestant, Essam Abdulhafeez Al-Rubai, qualified for the next stage thanks to his sweet recitation and outstanding performance. The Saudi doctor, Fayez Al-Humairi, also appeared on the competition platform with a wonderful recitation that impressed the jury, who gave Al-Humairi many observations that may contribute to raising the level of the contestant in future competitions after leaving the qualifiers. Al-Khalidi and Al-Rubai qualified for the next stage.
The competition jury includes 12 members, making it the largest jury in the history of Quranic competitions, which reflects the competition’s universality, magnitude and importance. All members of the Jury are specialists in their fields of recitations and maqams. They evaluate the competitors according to accurate and clear criteria that ensure equal opportunities among the contestants in the Otr Elkalam TV show, which is broadcast at 5 pm on the Saudia TV channel and Shahid platform.
