As an indicator of its status and the high value of its prizes, some contestants in Otr Elkalam (Scent of Speech) TV show moved from being assessors for competitions they judged in several countries to contestants for the best recitation and call to prayer, hoping to win one of the first places in the largest Quranic competition of its kind in the world.
The competition is distinguished by the high value of its awards and the participation of a group of reciting sheikhs in the schools of Quran memorization as contestants. These special contestants include Egyptian Sheikh Mohammed Al-Awadi, who was an assessor in many Quranic competitions and a Quranic memorizer for about 400 students. There is also the Syrian contestant Mutasim Billah Al-Asali, who was an assessor in many competitions around the world.
The international Holy Quran and call to prayer competition organized by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) achieved exceptional success days after the launch of its qualifiers, which are broadcast daily on the Otr Elkalam TV show at 5 pm, Riyadh time, on the Saudia TV channel and the Shahid platform. In addition to distinctive voices, the competition presents exciting rivalries for viewers, who watched during the past episodes the qualifications of 12 contestants in the two branches of Quran recitation and call to prayer. Viewers have shown a good interaction with the stories of the contestants and the details of their lives before the preliminary qualifiers led them to the capital, Riyadh, to compete for prizes in a competition that combines, for the first time, Quran recitation and call to prayer.
The international Holy Quran and call to prayer competition is the largest competition of its kind in terms of prizes amounting to SAR12 million ($3.2 million) and the number of competitors in the first stage with more than 40,000 competitors, in addition to the elite jury, which comprises 12 assessors specialized in the fields of the Holy Quran and voices.
