The first episode of the second edition of the Otr Elkalam TV show kicks off today, Thursday, Ramadan 1. The show is broadcast on the MBC1 and Shahid digital platform daily at 4:30 pm Riyadh time. During the holy month, the show presents the international Holy Quran and adhan competitions.
Fifty contestants, who passed the online stages that were launched in early January, compete in the first episode of Otr Elkalam. Thirty-two contestants qualify in the first episode, and the competition between them begins in the second episode of the show on Friday.
More than 50,000 contestants from 165 countries competed in the online stage of the Otr Elkalam. The best performers in reciting the Holy Quran and adhan were selected by a jury composed of scholars and experts in tajwid, maqamat and recitations.
Otr Elkalam aims to shed light on the best voices in reciting the Holy Quran and adhan and benefit the contestants and viewers alike with the observations of the jury specialized in the sciences of the Quran, intonation +and maqamat (music structures).
The competition, which has become part of Ramadan TV shows, introduces the world to the tolerance and moderation of Islam and the different cultures of the Islamic world and their different ways of reciting the Quran and raising the call to prayer. The competition honors the best contestants in Quran recitation and adhan and celebrates the distinguished talents in these fields.
