Joy Awards celebrated the achievements of 2024 in cinema, drama, music, sports, and influencers from Riyadh.

The Saudi capital Riyadh witnessed an extraordinary evening with the fifth edition of the Joy Awards at the anb arena, a glittering celebration of the most prominent Arab and global stars. Held under the patronage of HE Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), the event was attended by a host of royalty, dignitaries, and renowned artists from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, and beyond.
The event began with a majestic rendition of the Saudi national anthem by an orchestra, followed by a dazzling artistic performance featuring dancers, and a remarkable opening performance by American singer Christina Aguilera. Lebanese superstar Wael Kfoury joined Canadian star Michael Bublé in a captivating duet.
The awards ceremony opened with the Favorite Actor award, won by Syrian actor Samer Ismail for his role in Al-Ameel, presented by American actress Amanda Seyfried. The Favorite New Face in TV Shows award went to Saudi actress Al-Anoud Abdulhakim for her role in Beit Al-Ankaboot, presented by Indian star Hrithik Roshan. Meanwhile, the Egyptian series Na’met Al-Afokato won the Favorite Egyptian Series award, received by producer Maha Selim and presented by Canadian star Kiefer Sutherland.
In a moment of artistic reverence, Saudi actor Nasser Al-Qasabi presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran Syrian artist Yasser Al-Azmeh, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honor. The second season of Al-Rawabi School for Girls was crowned as the Favorite Levantine Series, with the award handed to the team by British legend Sir Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins also presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to American actor Morgan Freeman.

 

 

The Favorite Gulf Series award was presented by Syrian actor Bassel Khayyat and Lebanese actress Razane Jammal to Shabab Al-Bomb, with the award received by its star Faisal Al-Issa. Kuwaiti actress Huda Hussein received the Favorite Actress award for her performance in Zawja Wahida La Takfi, presented by Turkish star Barış Arduç.
The festival paid its annual tribute to artistic figures lost in the past year, accompanied by harp music led by musician Annelien Lenarts. Syrian director Rasha Sharbatji won the Favorite TV Director award for Awlad Badee’a, presented by American director Miguel Sapochnik.
The evening also featured a musical collaboration between Egyptian star Tamer Hosny and actress Nelly Karim, broadcast live on MBC channels and the Shahid platform. Egyptian director Tarek Al-Arian won the Favorite Film Director award for Welad Rizq 3, presented by American director Chad Stahelski.
HE Turki Alalshikh presented the Diamond Entertainment Makers Award to the late Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen for his poetic contributions to art. A video tribute highlighted his iconic works, with his son, Prince Khalid bin Badr bin Abdulmohsen, accepting the award.
The evening’s performances included a surprise duet between global music legend Andrea Bocelli and Saudi icon Mohammed Abdu. Prince Abdulrahman bin Musaed honored Bocelli with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Matthew McConaughey presented the Favorite Actress in Cinema award to Hana El-Zahed for her role in Fasl Men Al-Lahzat Al-Latheeza. Additionally, HE Turki Alalshikh awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Abdullah Al-Mohisin for his cinematic legacy.
The Egyptian film Welad Rizq 3: Al-Qadiyah won the Favorite Film award, presented by Hollywood star Cuba Gooding Jr. Egyptian composer Omar Khairat honored Hans Zimmer with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his unique musical legacy.
In the world of influencers, Ahmed Al-Qahtani (Shong Bong) won Favorite Influencer for the second consecutive year, while Narin Beauty was named Favorite Female Influencer.
Kareem Abdel Aziz presented the Honorary Entertainment Makers Award to director Mohamed Abdel Aziz. HE Turki Alalshikh also honored Kuwaiti artist

Abdullah Al-Ruwaished with a Lifetime Achievement Award in the presence of top Gulf artists, including Mohammed Abdu.
The Favorite New Face in Music award was presented by Tara Emad to Saudi artist Rakan Al-Saed.
The celebration continued, with actors Ahmed Helmy and Mona Zaki receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by South Korean star Jang Ki-Yong. The award for Most Popular Song of 2024 was shared by Egyptian artists Angham and Tamer Ashour.
Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad received the Honorary Entertainment Makers Award, presented by Turkish actress Hande Erçel.
The night featured an exceptional performance titled “Icon of Sound” by American drummer Jonathan Moffett, who played alongside Justin Andres and guitarist Orianthi.
In a surprising twist, comedian Ramez Galal disguised himself as an Indian artist, only to reveal his identity and present the Favorite Artist award to Saudi singer Ayed Yousef.
HE Turki Alalshikh honored several veteran Gulf artists who enriched the cultural and artistic scene, including Mariam Al-Saleh, Ibrahim Al-Sallal, Abdulrahman Al-Aqel, Mohammed Al-Twayan, Ghanem Al-Sulaiti, Abdulrahman Al-Khatib, Ali Ibrahim, and Saad Khidr.
Syrian singer Assala Nasri received the Favorite Artist award from actors Moatasem Al-Nahar and Rasha Bilal. Meanwhile, Majid Al-Mohandis’ song Al-Jaw won the Best Song award, presented by actors Dina El-Sherbiny and Karim Abdel Aziz.
Turkish pop star Tarkan concluded the night with a vibrant and creative musical performance.
