The theaters of the capital, Riyadh, return again to present their performances within the celebrations of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, through the activities and program of Eid 2023. GEA organizes a comedy play entitled “Room 13” and a stand-up comedy show entitled “The Elite” from 24 to 28 April. This is to provide a variety of entertainment options for citizens, residents and visitors to celebrate Eid.
Bakr Al-Shiddi Theater in Boulevard Riyadh City hosts “Room 13”, a social comedy that revolves around a man and woman who spend their honeymoon in a small hotel in Room 13 a year after the death of an elderly person with Alzheimer’s in the same room. The old man’s children had placed him in the hotel room with a nurse instead of placing him in a nursing home for fear of their relatives. However, after a few days, the old man dies but his spirit inhabits the room, and events begin in a social comic framework, with the newlyweds staying in the same room.
The play is starring Abdul Nasser Darwish, Sultan Al-Faraj, Hussein Al-Mahdi, Fatima Al-Abdullah, Hussein Al-Hashash, Manal Al-Jarallah, Areej Al-Attar, Wahid and Mai Hassan. Mohammed Al Ali Theater in Riyadh City Boulevard presents a stand-up comedy show entitled “The Elite.” It presents satirical social comedy situations from 26 to 28 April. Kawaliss Theater in Dammam hosts improvised Eid comedy performances from the Comedy House. They continue for three days from 22 to 24 April, from 10 pm until midnight, with the participation of Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj, Faisal Al-Doukhi, Saeed Saleh, Muhammad Al-Qahtani, Muhammad Jamil, Mahdi Al-Nasser, and Rakan Al-Zafer.
The idea of the improvisational Eid shows is to hold a fun and different comedy night. Two teams of professional actors participate in improvisation. The show consists of 6 different parts, and the audience indicates the part they would like to see. After that, the two teams start coordinating the course of the events in a professional and funny way, and the audience feel excited because the actors play different roles in each part and because the audience play a decisive role in determining the fate of each part.
