The stars of the play “Charlie”, which started on January 11, as part of the activities of Riyadh Season 2022, expressed their joy at participating, in Mohammed Alali Theater in Boulevard Riyadh City, in a musical show that they described as unprecedented in the Middle East.
The events of the play, which took a long time to prepare, revolve around the life of the great comedian, Charlie Chaplin, one of the most famous silent movie stars in the world. It tells the story of his life from its human side and the difficulties he had to overcome in his personal life and artistic career. Chaplin had a great impact on the film industry, which has become one of the largest entertainment industries in the world.
Mohamed Fahim, the star of the play, said that the work required special preparations because the project was not easy, and the person the work is talking about is not easy either. Nader Hamdi, the composer of the soundtrack, revealed that the music accompanying the play was recorded in France and Macedonia, describing the show as special, which is why it took a long time to prepare.
Actress Dalia Al-Jundi indicated that she plays the role of the first writer in yellow journalism, while Reem Al-Adl, the fashion designer, said that her designs covered the childhood of Charlie Chaplin in 1900 until he won the Academy Award in 1972.
Actor Ayman Al-Shewi expressed his happiness at presenting the play in Saudi Arabia, hoping that the audience would enjoy the experience. Composer Ihab Abdel Wahed said that the play comes in a musical and dance form, which has not been presented for a long time and has not been done before in Arabic in the Middle East.
Ahmed Al-Bohi, the director of the play, said that the preparation for the work lasted two years, as it started as an idea from him and his friend, actor Mohamed Fahim. The 14-year-old actor Marwan Hisham, who plays the role of the older brother of Charlie Chaplin, described the play as a masterpiece, noting that many rehearsals had been made to achieve the desired form.
