The Car Hacking Challenge, which is part of Black Hat event in Riyadh Season 2022, has been popular with visitors. The exciting challenge depends on the ability of participants to penetrate the systems of a modern electric car to educate visitors about vehicle systems as well as provide them with practical experience in this field.
A specialist explained the idea, noting that most modern cars contain weaknesses that can affect the safety of passengers. He added that visitors to the Car Hacking Challenge will learn about the weaknesses from specialized experts and will also learn more about vehicle systems.
The specialist talked about hacking the car key, revealing that this is done through a program called “Gqrx.” He noted that car keys usually use 433 or 477 frequencies, and the program helps to determine the exact signal. Once the location of the signal is located, the program can be recorded. He added that there are other programs such as “URH” that can get the same result.
The specialist pointed out that Bluetooth in most cars is vulnerable to hacking in several ways that visitors can learn about from the experts present at the event.
