The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) held in Riyadh this evening a press conference highlighting the latest productions of Cairo Show Theater, “Hazalkom” play, with the attendance of the show stars and producers.
The stars and producers of the show praised the huge role of GEA to revive the Arab theater through its efforts to recruit TV and theater stars from Egypt and the Arab world.
“Hazalkom” play chose the Saudi capital to launch its journey as part of Riyadh Winter events, continuing for four days starting on Wednesday (February 5) on Abu Baker Al-Sheddi Stage as the first theatrical work in Ahmed Makki’s career and a new formulation of one of the comic characters he is most known for performing with massive cinematic success in the “La Taragoa Wala Esteslam” film and Dramatic success in the “El Kabeer Awy” sitcom.
Ahmad Al-Mehmadi, Chief Communications Officer at the General Entertainment Authority, said “Under the direction of HE Turki bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Sheikh, GEA Chairman, the Entertainment Authority cares for the presence of the Arab theater, especially the Egyptian theater, which has a long history and influence on the artistic movement in the region.
The producer and director Magdy El-Hawary, the technical supervisor of the play and the founding partner of Cairo Show, said, “We are happy to come to Saudi Arabia. Our previous experiences with the great Saudi audience are reasons for optimism of a preliminary success for “Hazalkom” play to be staged as part of Riyadh winter, which saw large audiences thanks to the great efforts by GEA under the leadership of Turki bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Sheikh.
The comedy star Ahmed Makki, the protagonist of the play, said that his sheer happiness at standing on stage for the first time in front of his audiences in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the entire Arab world, gave him positive energy to double his efforts. He emphasized that transferring the “Hazalkom” character from the silver screen to the theater was not an easy job.
“Hazalkom” play is produced by the Cairo Show Company, under the technical supervision of the producer and director Magdy El-Hawary and directed by Karim Sami. Makki is co-starred with a group of comedy stars including Bayoumi Fouad, Mohamed Sallam, Suliman Eid and Mirna Jamil.
Riyadh Winter events continue to spread joy to all visitors with a series of entertainment events and activities to be presented in Riyadh Boulevard and Riyadh Winter Wonderland areas.
