Visitors of Riyadh Homecoming Festival Wander among Astronomical Objects and Remains of Extinct Animal Parts

Aug 29, 2022

Visitors of the Riyadh Homecoming festival can wander among astronomical objects and remains of extinct animals millions of years ago, adding diversity to the activities of the festival, which is the first of its kind in the integration of education and entertainment.

In the Dinosaurs zone, visitors can see an original piece of a meteorite. In the same zone, they can see parts of extinct animals, some of them are real, such as a dinosaur’s teeth, and others are models, which are similar to the real ones, including the lower jaw of a Majungasaurus, whose origin is from Madagascar.

The zone contains real plant fossils, which were a staple food for dinosaurs 98 million years ago. There are also vertebrae of semi-extinct fish, an ancient snake about 34 million years old, and the skull of a Basilosaurus whale, which is 35 million years old.

It also includes the Arthinotherm, one of the animals that used to live in Faiyum 30 million years ago, and some fossils, some of which date back to about 400 million years.

The Riyadh Homecoming festival is the first of its kind in the Kingdom, and its activities, which are held in the Hittin district, north of Riyadh, are accompanied by the return of schools. The festival hosts international shows, such as “Disney on Ice”, the theatrical performance ” University of Rioters”, in addition to many entertainment and educational events, and a range of shows suitable for families and children.

The festival, which continues until 5 September, welcomes visitors from 6:00 pm to 12:00 midnight on weekdays, and from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am on weekends. Entry tickets cost SAR20 each and can be booked via the link:
